April 29 is fast approaching, bringing the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. While it's not on Smithsonian magazine's list of Ten Most Memorable Royal Weddings, it is getting a lot of attention.
Prince William and Kate Middleton
Since their engagement was officially announced November 16, 2010, the couple and their pending nuptials have been making headlines around the globe. People want to know who made the royal wedding guest list and who got snubbed. Even before anyone has seen Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, the gown is creating buzz. The media is also keeping an eye on the flowers and other decorations at Westminster Abbey. It turns out some are even taking royal wedding bets like what color the queen’s hat will be or who will cry first. And, of course, everyone wants to know about the party at the royal wedding reception.
Royal Weddings Throughout History
Around the world and across centuries, royal weddings have captured the imagination and garnered headlines—or the shouts of the town crier. Smithsonian magazine has compiled a list of famous British marriages in Ten Royal Weddings to Remember.
The list includes modern marriages like Princess Diana and Prince Charles, as well as some historic partnerships like that of William and Mary and William the Conqueror and Matilda.
Launch the Royal Wedding to Remember slideshow. Maybe Wills and Kate will make the list one day, too!
